About the German Shorthaired Pointer
The German Shorthaired Pointer was developed in Germany during the 19th century by hunters who wanted a single versatile hunting dog that could point, retrieve, track, and work on land and in water. The breed was created through careful crosses of the old German Bird Dog with various pointer and hound breeds, including the English Pointer and possibly the Arkwright Pointer. GSPs belong to the AKC Sporting Group.
