About the Bulldog (English)

The Bulldog’s history is tied to the brutal sport of bull-baiting, popular in England from the 13th through the early 19th centuries. These early Bulldogs were fierce, athletic animals bred to grab and hold onto a bull’s nose. When bull-baiting was banned in 1835, the breed faced an uncertain future.
