About the Great Pyrenees

The Great Pyrenees is a majestic livestock guardian breed with origins in the Pyrenees Mountains bordering France and Spain, where it has protected flocks from wolves, bears, and livestock thieves for thousands of years. Known in France as the “Pyrenean Mountain Dog,” this breed was a favorite of French royalty, with King Louis XIV declaring it the Royal Dog of France in 1675.
