About the Gordon Setter
The Gordon Setter is the largest and most powerful of the three setter breeds, a handsome Scottish gun dog developed at Gordon Castle by the 4th Duke of Gordon in the early 19th century. While the breed’s roots extend back to the 17th century, the Duke’s careful breeding program refined the black-and-tan setter into a reliable, stamina-rich bird dog that could work all day in the rugged Scottish Highlands.
