About the Australian Cattle Dog

The Australian Cattle Dog is one of Australia’s oldest working breeds, developed in the early 19th century for droving cattle across vast, rugged terrain. The breed descends from crosses between European herding dogs brought by settlers and the native Australian Dingo, producing a tough, alert dog with a naturally bobbed tail. Unlike its close relative the Australian Cattle Dog, the Stumpy Tail is leaner, has a naturally short or absent tail, and is known for its intense work ethic and unwavering focus.
