About the Dachshund

The Dachshund was developed in Germany over 300 years ago to hunt badgers. The name literally translates to “badger dog” (Dachs meaning badger, Hund meaning dog). Their long, low body was purposefully designed to follow badgers into their underground burrows, and their loud bark allowed hunters to locate them underground.
