About the Basset Hound
The Basset Hound was developed in France and Belgium, with the name “basset” deriving from the French word “bas” meaning low. The breed was created by French monks at the Abbey of St. Hubert who wanted a short-legged, slow-paced scent hound that could be followed on foot rather than on horseback.
